‘THE CONJURING: LAST RITES’ WILL BE THE FINAL CONURING MOVIE

By Mike Scarpelli

After four movies over the course of a decade, it seems like Last Rites will be the final Conjuring movie to land on the big screen. Though it was confirmed by the director of the film itself, this might only mean the end of the Warren couple, not The Conjuring Universe itself. In an interview with ComicBook, his words were simple and direct.

“It is done. This is the final chapter… that’s why we called it Last Rites. It’s the last one. There’s no other Conjuring movies. It is absolutely the end.” – Michael Chaves

But The Conjuring franchise is too popular and beloved for Warner Bros. to simply relinquish. Sure, it may be the end of the Warrens’ onscreen journey, but there is still an entire universe of interconnected movies in the franchise that Warner Bros. can use to keep The Conjuring Universe alive. In fact, there has been word out that there will be a Conjuring TV series for HBO Max. There is already a team ready to make this project happen. The showrunner is said to be Nancy Won, while Peter Cameron and Cameron Squires will be the writers for the series. Though no more details are available to the public just yet, this series could represent the future of The Conjuring.
